A2M

A2M (Alpha-2-Macroglobulin) is a protein that naturally occurs in plasma that blocks proteins that are responsible for creating arthritis in the body. For patients wondering what A2M is, it’s a naturally occurring molecule in your blood that helps regulate inflammation and protect your joints from cartilage damage. By harvesting a patient’s A2M and re-injecting the super concentrated A2M mixture into the diseased joint, the progression of arthritis (specifically osteoarthritis) can be stopped as well as preventing further loss of cartilage, promoting tissue growth and relief from inflammation/pain. This innovative A2M therapy harnesses your body’s own plasma proteins to block joint degeneration, reduce inflammation, and naturally restore long-term mobility.

How it Works

The body naturally produces protein classes that degrade cartilage when the joint is injured. The A2M protein acts as a natural blocker against these enzymes, shielding the joint tissue and promoting a healthier environment for cartilage recovery. A2M is a powerful inhibitor of three specific protein classes that cause cartilage to breakdown: Cytokines, Matrix Metalloproteinases and A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin. Building on this biological function, A2M treatment helps protect joint cartilage, supporting pain reduction and improved movement in patients with osteoarthritis. By blocking these proteins, A2M injections can stop the progression of Osteoarthritis (once those proteins are trapped the body can eliminate them quickly) as well as support cartilage restoration.

The Procedure

Blood is collected from the patient and then processed using an Alpha 2 Macroglobulin concentrator with a centrifuge and filtration system. The super concentrated amount of A2M is now ready to be injected into the patient’s affected joint using ultrasound guidance. This Alpha 2 Macroglobulin treatment is performed under precise imaging to ensure accuracy, safety, and the best possible results for each patient.

Healing Process

After the procedure, the patient will experience minimal discomfort for 3-5 days. Each Alpha 2 Macroglobulin injection is designed to deliver concentrated healing factors directly to the affected joint, helping to reduce pain and inflammation quickly. Patients may begin to experience pain relief in 4-6 weeks. Patients are monitored by the doctor until the patient can completely return to pre-procedural activities. The regenerative process continues to work over a period of 6 months to a year with most patients continuing to improve in function/movement and decreasing in inflammation/pain. This long-lasting improvement occurs because A2M protein concentrate therapy continues to support tissue growth and cartilage protection well after the initial injection.

Benefits

  • Stops pain and inflammation in the joint
  • Helps restore the joint affected by Osteoarthritis
  • Prevents the progression of arthritis
  • Can be used to treat low back pain, degenerative discs, soft tissues and inflammation

In addition, A2M injections for arthritis have shown promising results in easing joint stiffness, improving flexibility, and preventing further cartilage loss in affected areas.
