Regenerative Medicine & Non Surgical Orthopedic Care

New Jersey Regenerative Institute is the medical practice of Drs. Agesen and Bowen specializing in regenerative medicine for sports, spine, and orthopedic injuries and focusing on the shoulder and knee. Knee pain is a common complaint and can be from activity with impaired mechanics, from an injury, or degenerative with or without prior trauma. The pain can be intermittent and annoying or constant in impair function and quality of life.

More commonly in the younger age group the problem is from the meniscus and with age it is due to the articular cartilage (e.g. arthritis). However, there are other sources such as strains or tendinopathy (jumper’s knee, patella, quadriceps, pes anserine, hamstring, calf), ligament sprains (ACL, PCL, collaterals), bursitis, bone contusions, stress fractures, osteonecrosis (dying bone), infection (Lyme’s disease), or medical issues (Rheumatoid arthritis).

If knee pain is concerning, an evaluation is performed including a physical examination. Depending on the findings, additional testing may be considered. Drs. Bowen and Agesen may perform an in-office ultrasound evaluation or recommend other imaging (x-ray or MRI).  

Treatment options range from reassurance, health and wellness advice and minimal invasive treatments (injections) to orthobiologics treatment protocols.

Our goal is to treat each patient as a whole person and create personalized treatment plans that suit their individual needs. We focus less on their patients’ pain symptoms, and more on what is causing them. These practices help treat the root of every patient’s pain, using regenerative medicine (which was endorsed by the Mayo Clinic as a field of practice) such as platelet rich plasma (PRP), ozone therapy, prolotherapy, shockwave, and orthobiologics to restore function and one’s quality of life.

We are active participants in collecting information on how our patients respond to care and utilize DataBiologics to track the data. We ask all of our patients who receive regenerative treatments to participate.
