Oxygen/Ozone Therapy

Ozone Therapy is a medical therapy that has been used worldwide for over 50 years with dramatic success and safety. It increases oxygenation of your cells, modulates your immune system, increases energy production in your cells, increases the antioxidant enzyme ability of your body, reduces the level of acidity in your body, kills bacteria and viruses, and can kill cancer cells on contact.

How it Works

Ozone is an “energized” form of oxygen, which occurs naturally in small amounts in the Earth’s upper atmosphere. It is formed by different processes including interaction between the sun’s ultraviolet radiation and oxygen in the stratosphere. The Earth’s ozone layer protects us from the sun’s ultraviolet rays as well as being the reason that there is life on this planet. You can often smell it in the air after a big thunderstorm, because it is created in the presence of lightning. Ozone is widely thought of as a pollutant, but it is the easiest and most consistent component that can be measured. Ozone’s presence neutralizes the toxins.

Ozone was published in the medical literature before the FDA’s existence and therefore was “grandfathered”. However, the FDA’s official position is ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application. There are various generators of differing quality. The generator should be certified by UL and/or ETL. Oxygen is highly flammable, so it is imperative that Ozone/Prolozone® treatments are to be administered by trained professionals. Its administration is the practice of medicine, which is not the purview of the FDA and is a component of one’s overall healthcare.

Some may be wary due to the FDA’s statement, but remember the number of “drugs” the FDA has had to recall due to harm. The FDA has not performed a rigorous review of ozone. However, there has been a world wide agreement published on the medical use of ozone the “Madrid Declaration on Ozone Therapy (2ndedition)”. There have been many peer review medical journal articles and books published. A Canadian company, Vasogen, produced significant research data and patents regarding ozone and UBI that has advanced our understanding.

The Procedure

There are multiple ways to deliver the ozone/oxygen to a patient depending on diagnosis:

  • As an injection either under the skin or into an injured joint (Prolozone®).
  • Injected after mixing ozone and a small amount of blood taken from the patient (Minor Autohemotherapy).
  • Intravenously after taking patient’s blood and adding ozone to it (Major Autohemotherapy).
  • Topically with ozonated water or ozone bagging for burns, wounds or skin infections. Ozonated oils are also good for these issues.
  • Insufflated (blowing on or into) to the rectum, nose and ear.

Healing Process

There is very little downtime for Oxygen/Ozone therapy. One can usually return to prior activities a day after being injected. Oxygen/Ozone therapy helps with many chronic pain issues and is a great alternative to invasive surgery. Some of the conditions it helps: herniated discs, arthritis, sciatic/back pain, tendonosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, and “bursitis”. Even in patients who are not 100% improved by it, Ozone/Prolozone® therapy can effectively reduce the effects/symptoms of the patient’s disease and provide them with a higher quality of life.

These treatments are extremely beneficial to chronic pain sufferers by helping to increase circulation and reduce the inflammation. In doing this, it allows for the patient’s immune system to start working at a higher level. Oxygen/Ozone therapy in combination with a more effectively functioning immune system provides one with the opportunity to heal naturally. Oxygen/ Ozone treatments have been proven effective in helping individuals with arthritis, specifically Rheumatoid and Osteoarthrosis, to find relief from chronic pain. A solution can be injected directly into the arthritic joint in order to reduce the inflammation and to inactivate harmful pathogens. Minor/Major Autohemotherapy has powerful healing capabilities as well as anti-inflammatory effects within the body. It increases energy, circulation, eases pain in certain injuries, and overall boosts the immune system which helps in a patient’s overall health and to improve dysfunction.
